New River Fly Fishing is operated by veteran fishing guide Mike Smith, who has over 35 years of experience fishing the New.  In 1997, he began one of the area's first guide services and has since helped establish the New River as a premier fishing destination.  Mike is on the pro staff at Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) and is also the marketing programs director and a fly designer for Flymen Fishing Company.
