Whether you’re after hard-fighting smallmouth bass, muskie, wild trout, or a peaceful private water escape, New River Fly Fishing offers professional guided trips suited for all skill levels. Rods, flies, waders, and boots are included if necessary. Our guides will provide water, but you will need to bring your own lunch and snacks.
We’re happy to host groups, though we maintain a 2:1 angler-to-guide ratio for the best experience. You’ll need a valid Virginia fishing license (ages 16+), a hat, sunglasses, seasonal layers, and a rain jacket—your guide will contact you beforehand with trip details and meeting instructions.

Float Trips on the New River
Target: Smallmouth Bass, Muskie, Walleye, Striped Bass
Fish from an inflatable raft on one of the country’s best warm-water fisheries. Float trips are ideal for groups, families, and anglers who prefer a more comfortable experience without much walking.

Float or Wade Trips on the Smith River
Target: Wild Brown Trout and Stocked Rainbow Trout
Fish the cold, clear tailwaters of the Smith River. Ideal for those who enjoy a technical and rewarding trout fishing experience.

Private Water Trips

Access over two miles of exclusive, stocked trout waters. These trips are ideal for beginners or anglers looking for a relaxing day away from the crowds.

Trip Details
Cancellation Policy
Deposits are refundable (minus processing fees) if cancelled at least 30 days before your trip date. For cancellations within 30 days of your trip date, deposits may be applied to a new reservation. Cancellations within 7 days of your trip date will result in the forfeit of your deposit. Cancellations within 24 hours of the trip date will result in the full payment of the trip being charged to your credit card. Please note that we will fish in the rain. In the event that your trip is cancelled by us due to inclement weather or adverse water conditions—as determined by the guide—your deposit will be applied to a new reservation or refunded upon request.
Fishing License
All anglers age 16 and older are required to have a valid Virginia fishing license for public or private water. Additionally, a trout license is required from Oct. 1 through June 15 to fish on the Smith River.
Waiver
For the safety and protection of all our guests, a signed waiver is required prior to any guided trip. This form covers basic liability, acknowledges the inherent risks of outdoor activities, and ensures everyone is informed and prepared for a great experience on the water.
Gratuities
Tips for your guide are not included in trip pricing. Our guides work hard to give you a great experience on the water. If you had a memorable day, gratuities are always appreciated.
